Band 5 111/Crisis Mental Health Telephone Response Practitioner

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Onsite at the Caludon Centre in Coventry

Rates: £20PH days, £25PH nights/Saturdays, £30PH Sundays/Bank Holidays

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a Band 5 Registered Professional to fill the position of 111/Crisis Mental Health Telephone Response Practitioner on a two-month locum basis. This role is based at the Caludon Centre in Coventry and plays a crucial role in providing urgent mental health support and guidance to service users and their families who reach out via the 111 option two/Crisis line.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conduct crisis call handling and initial triage assessments with empathy and professionalism.
  • Provide information, support, and advice to callers regarding mental health management strategies.
  • Offer compassionate assistance to callers, including caregivers, to help them cope effectively with their mental health challenges.
  • Assist callers in managing distress and difficulties they may be facing, providing appropriate signposting and advice.
  • Identify immediate and non-immediate responses to triage assessments conducted via the 111/Crisis line.
  • Seek guidance from Clinical Leads for urgent assessment needs or unclear response scenarios.
  • Collaborate effectively within the Urgent Care Mental Health Access Hub pathway.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in crisis call handling, triaging, and Home Treatment Team (HTT)/crisis team settings.
  • Familiarity with Carenotes system is desirable.
  • Suitable candidates may include Band 5 nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychology assistants (Band 4 or 5).
  • Registration with relevant professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
